The Australian Footbike Association Inc (AFAI) is excited to be hosting the 2016 Footbike World Championships on the Gold Coast, Queensland from 8-10 July 2016. A footbike is like an adult scooter with bicycle wheels.
It is the first time the event has been held outside of Europe, and has attracted the winners of both the men’s and women’s events to defend their world championship titles.
At three Gold Coast venues, the Footbike World Championships consists of four events across:
When the Sprint is held at the Sports Super Centre, it will be the first time the brand new athletic track will have been used for a major event. The Criterium and Relay events will be held at the Luke Harrop Memorial Track and the Endurance is around the Gaven Central industrial area on Sunday morning.
Footbiking is growing rapidly in popularity in Australia with more than 1800 Aussies taking up the sport. It is also gaining a lot of interest in New Zealand.
We can’t wait to share our home-grown passion for the sport, as well as our beautiful country with footbikers from around the world.
The event is free and welcomes spectators at each of the three venues. Full event details and results can be found at http://www.footbikeworldchampionships.com.au/
